P&J followed Strauss as he led them deeper into the Keepers' sanctuary. "The artifact is more than a relic. Strauss stopped abruptly in front of a pedestal, there a painting of a glowing orb stood. "Here rested the Cor Lucis, the device your ancestors have long protected. It's holds the power to bring light to darkness, and darkness to light.”
The brothers' eyes widened in awe, their minds reeling trying to make sense of it all. "You've been chosen for the task of retrieving it," Strauss declared, with his eyes blazing with intensity. "Your mother's gift, your trip to NY! was no coincidence. Your father was to be the chosen one, but his sudden disappearance forced us to wait until you were old enough to carry the burden."
As they opened their mouths to ask about their father, the sanctuary was invaded by the sound of footsteps. "They've found us," Strauss murmured. "We must find the Cor Lucis and destroy it before they do.” He flung open a hidden passage, and all three crawled into the darkness. As the traveled the confined space, they knew their journey was far from over, and the rabbit hole was only getting deeper.
